Getting Started

No referral is needed. You can reach out directly to book an initial consultation, and we’ll guide you through the next steps.
You may wish to check with your insurance provider, as some plans may require a doctor’s note in order to be reimbursed.

It’s rarely too early to ask questions. If something doesn’t feel quite right, a quick conversation can help you understand what’s typical and whether support might be helpful.

Every child develops at their own pace, but some common signs include difficulty being understood, limited vocabulary for their age, have difficulty putting words together, trouble following directions, or frustration when trying to communicate.

We primarily work with children under 12, tailoring our approach to each child’s developmental stage and needs.

Yes. We support children with a wide range of communication needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and other developmental differences.

In-person sessions take place at #209 - 300 King Street West, Oshawa. At this time, no home visits are being conducted. Feel free to discuss your situation with Courtney during your consultation call.

What to Expect

An assessment help us understand your child’s strengths and areas of need. It may include play-based observation, structured activities, standardized testing, and parent input.
This may take place over the course of several sessions, depending on the child. We’ll walk you through the results and recommend next steps.

In most cases, yes — especially for younger children. This helps you see what we’re working on and learn strategies you can use at home.

This depends on your child’s needs and goals. We’ll make a recommendation after the initial session. We’ll adjust as we go depending on the rate of progress and needs of your child.

Every child is different. Some benefit from short-term support, while others may need longer-term therapy. We’ll regularly review progress and adjust the plan as needed.

Goals are based on your child’s assessment, your priorities as a parent, and what will have the biggest impact on their communication in their daily life.

Absolutely. Parent involvement is a key part of progress, and we’ll share practical, easy-to-use strategies you can build into your daily routines.

We track progress over time and share updates with you regularly. You’ll also start to notice changes in how your child communicates in everyday situations.

Yes, wehn appropriate. With your consent, we can collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, behaviour consultants, or other professionals to support your child more holistically as part of your child’s team.
Fees, Logistics & Policies

Contact us for our latest session fees.
60 minute sessions includes 45 minutes of one-on-one time plus 15 minutes of preparation and documentation time. Shorter and longer sessions are also available.
The initial consultation is always free.

Written reports are available upon request.
They are billed at our standard hourly rate for the time spent preparing, writing, and discussing the report.

Private speech therapy assessments or sessions are not covered by OHIP. However, many private and employer-sponsored extended health plans include coverage for speech-language pathology.
Coverage amounts vary significantly between plans — we recommend checking with your plan administrator for details.

Talk Together does not direct bill to insurance providers.
Payment is due at the end of each session, and detailed receipts are provided so that you can submit for reimbursement through your insurance plan.

Payments are due at the time of your session, and may be made by cash or Interac e-transfer.

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be charged at 50% of the session fee.
We understand that life with kids is unpredictable. Please reach out as soon as possible if something comes up.

We do not currently have evening or weekend appointments, however we offer a limited number of late afternoon appointments. Availability can vary, so it’s best to ask when booking.
